Two suspicious deaths in Dartmouth; one ruled homicide

Halifax Regional Police continue to investigate the suspicious death of a woman at 3 Farthington Pl. in Dartmouth.

Shortly after 4 a.m. on Sunday, police were called to 3 Farthington Pl. regarding the death of an adult woman. Const. Carol McIsaac, a police spokesperson, said Monday that investigators will remain on scene and will execute a search warrant at 68 Jackson Rd. in Dartmouth.

Few details are known at this time. Police aren’t releasing the woman’s name and age until an autopsy is performed and next of kin are notified.

This was the second suspicious death in Dartmouth in a matter of days.

Late Friday afternoon, police were alerted to a man in medical distress at an apartment in the 0-100 block of Pinecrest Drive in Dartmouth. Derek Miles, 42, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His death was later ruled a homicide.

Police have not said if the two deaths are connected.
