COVID-19 update: One death, 10 hospital admissions, more outbreaks

Nova Scotia reported one more death from COVID-19 on Friday, a man in his 60s.

The province also reported a new outbreak at the Halifax Infirmary site of the QEII Health Sciences Centre, with fewer than five positive cases. 

There were additional cases reported at three other hospitals with outbreaks: two at the Victoria General site of the QEII, one in a different ward at the Halifax Infirmary, and one at Dartmouth General Hospital. 

There was one new outbreak at a long-term care facility, with 28 positive cases reported at Victoria Manor in Amherst. 

Ten people were reported admitted to the hospital, bringing the total number of those hospitalized with COVID-19 up to 88. Of those, 15 people are in intensive care units. 

There are two other groups of people hospitalized related to COVID-19: 104 who were admitted for other reasons and tested positive upon arrival; and 130 who contracted COVID-19 while in hospital. 

Nova Scotia Health Authority completed 3,670 tests, and reported 620 new cases on Friday. This brings the estimated number of active cases in the province up to 4,316.
