Halifax Parks & Recreation staff offer free skating lessons every week at the Emera Oval on the Halifax Common. The lessons are popular, frequently having a waiting list.
Ashley Corbett caught up with some beginners during the first lesson of the season. She found the lessons attract new Canadians and families simply wanting to share an activity together.
The brave beginners said they wanted to share the activity with their kids, with one vowing he won’t say “I cannot do it.”
