Haligonians warmed their hands by outdoor fire pits Sunday, sipping hot cocoa and enjoying holiday cheer in the frosty night air.

Hundreds of people were out on a rare weekend of clear skies to enjoy the waterfront festival, offered by Discover Halifax in collaboration with Downtown Halifax Business Commission, RBC, Build Nova Scotia, Marriott Halifax Harbourfront and Jack92.9.

Evergreen is a four-week winter festival of outdoor events and games, food and a local makers market that runs until Dec. 15. Visitors can walk through Evergreen Bright, a series of holiday light displays throughout downtown Halifax and Dartmouth.

At this year’s holiday market, 22 wooden chalets provide shelter for local vendors selling festive treats, drinks and gifts. Visitors can explore the Winter Sports section for free winter games.

Free musical performances from local musicians are held at the Beer Garden on the weekends.
