Communications contacts

Many governments and organizations have media guidelines and communications staff to handle queries from reporters.

Nova Scotia courts

Guidelines: Media and public access to the courts of Nova Scotia

Jennifer Stairs is the courts communications director. NOTE: You usually don’t need to contact her to cover a case in open court, but there are temporary guidelines in place during the pandemic. If you want to go to court, talk to Terra first.

Halifax municipality

This media centre page explains the process for calls. Use the general phone number (902-490-7400) and email (mediarelations@halifax.ca), but a specific communications officer will get back to you.

Halifax police

Talk to your instructor before reaching out. Use the general email address (hrpmediarelations@halifax.ca) if you have an inquiry. It’s monitored weekdays 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Inquiries must be sent from your Dal/King’s email account and CC’d to the instructor. News releases are different. If you’re calling about a specific news release, check the contact info at the bottom. That info is included because police expect or even want media to call. Confused? Talk to your instructor.
