Uploading to YouTube

If you’re doing a video, upload it to the Signal’s YouTube account. Get the password (you must be logged into our WordPress site).

Make sure you fill out all of the fields, including:

• A short summary that gives context to the video, including your name and anyone else who worked on it
• Suitable metadata, including title, tags and category (News)
• Add a link to the relevant news piece on The Signal site, if there is one
• Add the most compelling thumbnail image

Embedding from YouTube

Get the embed code:

1. Go to the YouTube web page with the individual video on it
2. Below the video, click the Share button
3. Click the Embed link
4. Uncheck the box “Show suggested videos when the video finishes”
5. Copy the HTML
6. Paste it into a WordPress post, using the Text (not Visual) Editor
7.  Change:
   • width to: 100%    (so it scales for mobile)
   • height to: 400    (without a unit — so it renders in pixels, not a per cent)
