The Halifax Regional Municipality brought in new smoking rules on Oct. 15, 2018. Smokers are required to stay in designated smoking areas (DSA) on municipal property, such as city streets.
When requests are made for new DSAs, the municipality evaluates potential areas on a case-by-case basis. Here are some factors they consider when they do take a look.
