It’s Eating Disorders Awareness Week, and Halifax has big plans.

From February 1 to 7, members of Eating Disorders Nova Scotia and Emergence Holistic Services are holding events around the HRM to provide education and reduce stigma around eating disorders.

The week launched with a flag raising at Parade Square Thursday morning. Councillor Tony Mancinni and members of Eating Disorders NS kicked off the ceremony with a reading of the proclamation and an explainer of the week’s significance.

The week is held annually and aims to raise awareness that eating disorders can and do affect all sorts of people. Events are taking place across the country and connecting with one another using the hashtags #NotAChoice and #EDAW2017.
