Police find suspicious package in abandoned car on Highway 102
Package deemed not a threat after Explosive Disposal Unit investigates

The car was on the side of the road with flat tires and broken windows at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday.A section of Highway 102 in Halifax was closed to traffic Wednesday morning as police investigated a suspicious package in an abandoned car.
Halifax Regional Police were first at the scene southbound at the Kearney Lake Road exit on Highway 102 at about 7:50 a.m.
Police found a suspicious package in the vehicle and called in the Explosive Disposal Unit to investigate.
By 10:30 a.m., the southbound lanes on Highway 102 from Kearney Lake Road to Bayers Lake were closed to traffic.
Police later said the package was not a threat and that the highway was open again.
