More than 300 fans made their way to Bayers Lake Costco on Wednesday to meet Canadian comedy icon Mike Myers.

The lineup spanned half of the warehouse store, with many clutching Myers’ book in their hands, anxious to meet the author and have their copy signed. Some fans waited for upwards of four hours.

Myers, who grew up in Scarborough, is best known for characters like Wayne Campbell and Austin Powers, as the voice of Shrek, and for his six-year stint on Saturday Night Live as an actor and writer in the early 1990s.

His publisher, Penguin Random House Canada, dubs Canada “part memoir, part history and pure entertainment.”

Myers has been signing books and meeting fans across the country this week.

Rachelle Richards is a Wayne’s World fan and she was easy to spot among the hundreds in line, as she was in a Wayne Campbell costume.

“This was my Halloween costume anyway, and then I found out he was going to be here and I was like, ‘Excellent,’” says Richards, using one of the Wayne Campbell character’s signature lines.

“I’ve been watching him since I was a kid, so I thought it’d be cool to see.”

Myers took pictures with fans but nearly 100 people were turned away once the hour for the meet-and-greet had ended.

The book tour began last Friday in Ottawa and he’ll be in Calgary today.
