Court
Lindsay Souvannarath, Randall Shepherd back in court in Jan. 2016
Accused face charges of conspiracy to commit murder
23-year-old Lindsay Kanittha Souvannarath and 20-year-old Randall Steven Thomas Shepherd’s case were in court this morning, in connection with an alleged plan to walk into the Halifax Shopping Centre and open fire on unsuspecting shoppers last Valentine’s Day.
This morning, the date for a pre-trial conference for their lawyers was set for Jan. 22, 2016. The trial date for court proceedings against Souvannarath and Shepard will be determined on Jan. 28, 2016 at 9 a.m.
In Feb. 2015, police said they had received several tips about suspicious online activity and a potential weapons-related threat a few days before Valentine’s Day. Information initially led police to a 19-year-old male suspect who was found dead in his Timberlea home, where three long-barrelled rifles were seized.
Souvannarath, from Geneva, Ill., was arrested at 2 a.m. as she entered Canada at the Halifax Stanfield International Airport on Feb. 13, 2015. Shepard, a Halifax local, was also arrested at the airport. They face charges of conspiracy to commit murder.
