Police respond to weapons call on Queen Street
Bystanders say stabbings occurred in Saturday afternoon incident
Halifax Regional Police responded to a weapons call in downtown Halifax late Saturday afternoon.
A group of police vehicles converged at 1249 Queen St. at about 3 p.m., before officers escorted two men out of a two-storey apartment building near the corner of Morris Street.
A Halifax Regional Police officer, who identified himself as a sergeant, confirmed “somebody got hurt.” Police officers escorted a man with blood on his sweatpants and holding gauze to his face from the apartment. The man, wearing a hoodie and a camouflage jacket, was taken to an ambulance.
Police took a second man, wearing a white tank top and black sweatpants, to a patrol car. The man’s face was covered in blood.
Two bystanders said they had witnessed a knife fight inside the apartment.
Police had not released further details by early Monday afternoon.
