About/Contact
The Signal is the official publication for student work for students in the Journalism programs at the University of King’s College in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
We focus on producing compelling stories for the people who live, work and play in the Halifax area.
Most stories are produced by senior undergraduate and graduate students in the school’s news reporting workshops, which typically run from November to March.
Students in other reporting courses contribute stories to The Signal on an occasional basis. All are students in our one-year Bachelor of Journalism and two-year Master of Journalism programs, as well as senior students in our four-year Bachelor of Journalism Honours program.
The faculty instructor/editor for the news workshop in 2024-25 is Tim Currie.
The publisher is the Director of Journalism, Fred Vallance-Jones.
